At Lou's we give a lot of thought to the brands we select or permit to be sold in the store. We look for two qualities first and foremost; attention to quality and excellence in technology. Browse the selections online or come in and see what we have to offer.
A Word About Boot Fitting
The descriptions used by the ski industry to categorize boots are not as diverse as for skis, which is a good thing. But there are still problems that make it difficult to purchase the correct boot without expert advice.
There are Race/Freeride, Intermediate and Beginner boots. Nearly every manufacturer uses the same shell for their Race and Freeride models. Meaning the Freeride boots are morphed from the race shell and primarily are different in that the colours look better with baggy pants. Certainly this is an oversimplification, but from a fit standpoint it is spot on. The boots are identical.
Where we run into a problem is
that due to the expense of man-
ufacturing plastic injection molds
boot models do not come in
widths. Instead, as models are
designed for progressively higher
performance intention they become narrower and conversely there is really no such thing as a narrow intermediate boot. Unless you purchase boots using the method we use at the store.
The most important thing is fit rather than how a boot is classified. If you have a narrow foot you need a narrow boot. If you are an intermediate perhaps you need a softer boot in flex than if you were an expert, but what we call race boots come in flexes down to something that works for a ten year old.
When you come in we will gladly work with you and from the description of your skiing and what we see in your feet we will be able to recommend a boot that works and we will be able to make it comfortable regardless of its label.
